she’s very reminiscent of Kasey Chambers…the rest of the album is pretty similar to this, overtly traditional and kind of stuck in the honky-tonk past but still very listenable and promising. the girl’s got real songwriting talent too — “Slow Swinging Western Tunes” is one of two on the album she composed solely and it’s a stone-cold stunner.

I remember reading about her a few months ago when she signed on with Big Machine Records. Some people in Austin thought it was a big deal that a local girl got a label like BMR to pick her up. I haven’t listened to any of her stuff to see if the hype is worth it or not.
