Review: The Wreckers, “Tennessee”

The Wreckers, “Tennessee”

I view The Wreckers as an Adult Top 40 act that have slapped a few minimal country touches on the surface to score hits at a more lucrative radio format.    That said, this is still a very good song, a sentimental but not sappy look back on the one that got away.   If non-country acts are going to overwhelm the format looking for their second act, they should at least be required to make music as good as this.

  1. the whole album is good, I hope you’ve heard it. I agree that it’s pretty much adult contempo with a few country touches, except maybe for “Crazy People,” which is country to the bone and hilarious to boot.

incidentally, I remember catching Imus on the dial one day and he was playing “Crazy People” as he went to commercial and even commented on how good it was. I’m sure they’re thrilled about that endorsement now.

  2. This isn’t one of my favorite Wreckers’ songs, but I do wish they had stuck together. Every now and then my local station plays a Wreckers song, and I’m always going “Who was that?” They were a breath of fresh air while they lasted.
