Dan,

I do love the Pat Green record. It reminded me a lot of the Luther Vandross hit "Dance With My Father", but with a lot less gloss.

I will pre-emptively end the e-grudge before it begins, and let you know that "So Small" isn't in the top 20, or anywhere else on the list. I liked it, but don't consider it one of the best singles of 2007. Among the four singles Carrie released this year, it's the one I liked the least.

I am glad to see Famous In A Small Town in this countdown. I think this song is underrated. I love the sentiment and the music production...and Miranda sings the heck out of it, of course.

I'm a huge fan of your work in this blog, but the fact that "Dixie Lullaby" is so low on the list does not bode well for the rest of it for me. I know it didn't have much of a chart presence, but that's one of the most earnest, well-crafted, genuinely country records anybody has put out in the past year. It's a song any male singer from Merle Haggard to Tim McGraw would have been proud to put his name on, and yet Pat Green's performance completely owns it. And while I definitely agree that it the content flirts with schlockness, I think there's an honesty to the joy that the whole thing exudes.

I mean, it's not that big a deal...I'm just kind of bummed imagining the sorts of songs it's going to be ranked beneath. If "So Small" is in the top 20, it may be the beginnings of an e-grudge.
