Toby Keith, “She’s a Hottie”

It’s interesting that Toby Keith and Shania Twain started out on the same cross-country bus tour together. Both of them have become superstars on the strength of their con How Do I Get My Ex Husband To Talk To Me If I Want Him Back siderable talents, which are often underestimated due to the prominence of their up-tempo hits that border on novelty songs.

“She’s a Hottie” is the kind of song that your mind tells you is a piece of trash, right before it betrays you by planting the hook in the deep recesses of your brain and hitting the repeat button. After three more listens, it’s clear: this is some damn fine hillbilly ear candy.

  1. On first listen it sounds like Toby Keith has been listening to a lot of Big & Rich and Trace Adkins – both of which probably would have loved to record this song.

Unfortunately, this song – like so many others that have permeated country radio in recent years – continues the horrible practice of sexually objectifying women. Toby Keith has rarely risen above this in recent years, which is a shame, because as much as I hate to admit it, he is capable of so much better.

On second listen…I’m sure Paris Hilton is sad that this song wasn’t around for her to use in her movie “The Hottie and the Nottie.” Then maybe more people would have seen it…or not. ;)

  2. I LOOOOVE this song!!! I really like his rocking songs, and this one has a great hook, and gets me dancing every time I hear it. I also love hearing his low, sexy growl. I am looking forward to seeing him wiggle those hips to this in concert!!!

  3. Lynn, I know what you mean, but I can’t help but be amused by it. I like to see Toby having fun rather than pander.

  4. The first time I heard this song, it was stuck in my head, and that doesn’t happen often. So I’m sure you can imagine that I have to turn it up loud every time I hear it now that it is several listens later.

It’s not the best that’s out right now, but it is certainly catchy and enjoyable, and impossible to get out of my head. Great job Toby!
