The difference between Tony Orlando & Dawn and Dave & Sugar was that Sugar shared the lead vocal where Dawn where stictly back-ups - but I agree. It was never more than a vehicle for Dave Rowland who was probably less talented than the Sugars. Still, I was a big fan. Tear Time, Stay with Me, Knee Deep in Lovin' You, I Was Looking Back to See, Queen of the Silver Dollar, Golden Tears, I'm Gonna Love You, Gotta Quit Lookin' at You Baby, Fool by Your Side, Don't Throw It All Away, My World Begins and Ends with You,...

If I remember correctly, one of Sue Powell's single was "Gonna Love You 'til the Cows Come Home". It was better than the title suggests.

Remember Tony Orlando and Dawn ?

Dave and Sugar were somewhat of an aberration in that Dave Rowlands put the group together and never ievisioned it as anything other than it was - a vehicle for Dave Rowland's career. The members of Sugar were his employees - period.

Dave wasn't a terribly compelling singer on his own, and none of the various Sugars (Vicki Hackman, Sue Powell, Jackie Frantz, Melissa Dean, Jamie Kaye, etc) where anything special as singers either as none of them went on to have any success as solo artists (although Sue Powell charted two singles on RCA)

The blend is what made this act , that and good choices of material I liked this act but Sugar wouldn't come near making my top 100 list of greatest women in country music
