Chris Cagle, “Never Ever Gone”

by

August 17, 2008

This is one of those records that adds up to less than the sum of its parts.   Cagle’s vocal is fully engaged, there are some cool guitar licks, and the hook is pretty strong.

However, it doesn’t come together as a fully realized piece of work.   Despite all of the individually worthy pieces, they just don’t fit correctly.  The end result is a single that threatens to be more than a generic country single but doesn’t quite become one.

an empty ipod, this song for free – it’ll still be a waste of space.
