I can't believe I forgot "9 to 5." That one's brilliant. Also, "Going to Work", which was co-written by Pam Tillis, and recorded by Judy Rodman and Martina McBride.

Leann,

Regarding my dad, I didn't intend to write about him. Just kinda flowed out of me. I was going to erase it, but it felt too much like erasing him. And you know what? Music is personal, and I wouldn't have ever heard country music in the first place if my parents didn't play it around me all the time growing up. (Their song was Billie Jo Spears' "Blanket on the Ground.")

My father is a farmer, so I understand completely, Kevin. Nice choice on the McGraw song, Leeann. And Erik, I love the Springsteen pick. Surprised no one said "9 to 5" by Dolly. Here's one columnist's take on the subject, from a decidedly non-country point of view:

I think one of my favorites is "Lord Have Mercy On the Workin' Man" by Travis Tritt. I also enjoy, though it's kind of light, Joe Diffie's "Down In A Ditch." For those who live in the world of Office Space, Tim McGraw's "Everybody Hates Me" is fun too.
