Discussion: Bargain For Your Buck?

The prolific rootsy bluegrass band, Old Crow Medicine Show, is offering their new album, Tennessee Pusher, at the low preorder price of five dollars exclusively on . To me, this is a price that you just can’t beat–whether you’re aware of OCMS or not.

I love a good bargain and this got me thinking about other bargain music deals that are worth taking advantage of. For example, my pet album, Vince Gill’s These Days box set. At only $26.99, it contains 43 original songs spread out on four CDs. Each CD represents a different genre: rock, jazz, acoustic and straight up country music.

Typically, box sets that are full of songs that can be found on previous albums seem to run for at least forty dollars. So, this box set of all original songs that weren’t previously available is quite a steal!

I know there have got to be other great country music bargains out there . What are they?

  1. Sadly, I don’t have a Costco where I live. We have a Sam’s Club, but there isn’t a huge box set collection there. I’m going to check it out to see if they have a similar bargain though.

  2. Leeann,

I know Costco varies the size of space they allow for media based on store volumes so I image Sam’s does the same thing (I used to be a member back when I worked for the evil empire).

  3. For older material by current artists, Madacy issues some nice product for $6.99 or less at Best Buy – usually they are two-disc sets that really could fit on one CD but sometimes they are more than that. For instance, they have a nice Trisha Yearwood collection that newer fans might want to pick up
