I’d like for “Gunpowder” to win as well, however I don’t think it will win up against “Stay” and “YGMT”.

The only other song I see as worthy of the crown is “You’re Gonna Miss This”. The Strait and Chesney offerings are just too dull for my liking.

I think this has been one of the best songs released to country in a while. It’s brilliantly written and Jennifer Nettle’s vocal and emotional performance is just amazing. I’m pulling for it to win.

However, I wouldn’t count out “Gundpowder and Lead” and “I Saw God Today.” These two have been good hits within the past year and I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these two stole it. I’m excited to see who wins!

The hook is genius, the gritty vocal is terrific and all the musical elements brewed into a brilliant track. But CMA voters may not want to pull the trigger on such a volatile song. With this in mind, I find “Stay” to be the likely winner. Jonathan’s right—the other three nominees are rather run-of-the-mill.

Miranda’s song just has sass appeal take that sort of country rock sound to it. Trace’s song just pretty much sums up life, this song came out like three weeks befor I had my daughter and it just pulls at all my heart strings. As for Sugarland I really do not like that song I change it EVERY time it is on since the first time i listened, as a marrried woman the song just does nothing for me, first she’s begging the married guy to stay whinning that she might not be good enough for him, then mustards up the courage to tell him to go even though she wants him to stay, she sings it beautifully but lyrically the song i find a little demeaning to the mistress.

I think there were so many labels back then, and the industry was so broad, that a lot of the label politics was removed from the voting process and some really amazing wins happened. I love the fact that the only CMA nominee who didn’t send out any “For Your Consideration” goodies to CMA voters in 1995 was Alison Krauss, and she swept that night.
