Actually, they have omitted 7 hits from all 3 collections. That one was just the only #1 to not make it onto a hits collection yet.

They had to omit at least one hit so they can justify putting out Greatest Hits 4 in the next month or two.

As I am reviewing the first 2 “Hits” packages and this one, I realized that none of them contain “One Of These Days” a #1 Hit from 1999. It’s quite amazing to me that the label would exclude that song but would include marginal recent singles on this album (but somehow make-up for “Can’t Be Really Gone”‘s omission.

I think “I need you” was probably overlooked because it was already featured on Faith’s “The Hits” album. Just a thought.

I purchased this today – I think this comes in at 3 or 3.5 stars – the 2 star rating is a bit harsh. It’s not great but if McGraw is one of those artists you buy only in hit anthologies, then this is a reasonable value
