I don’t like all name checking songs, but there are plenty that I enjoy. It just depends on how they’re executed.

But there is actually some good “name-dropping” songs lol. One song that immediately came to mind is Lee Ann Womack’s “I Think I Know” and Ashley Monroe’s “Hank’s Cadillac”, etc. Those two probably wouldn’t be on any quiz since they’re not known by a whole lot of people, for the most part (some good ones that are well known even could be like Trisha mentioning Patsy and Aretha in “XXX’s and OOO’s”). But they are some good ones, and plenty of bad ones as we know (“Johnny Cash”, “Kristofferson”, “Tim McGraw”, and I guess for some people, Alan Jackson mentioning Brooks & Dunn in “Good Time”).

It can get creative. I mean, the quiz rules don’t say we have to like the songs. Just that we know about them. I think it would be fun.

And yes, Clint outdid everybody with that one haha.

How about the name-dropping song that puts all others to shame — Clint Black’s “Tuckered Out”?

Those kinds of songs are usually not my favorites … actually, I tend to despise name-dropping songs. But the rest of CF’s suggestions were really interesting.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to post in this one before the deadline, but I did take it afterward (while covering up the answers) and got all but one (I put “Superstitions” instead of “Suspicions” for #5.) This one was pretty easy :D.

Suggestions:
maybe country songs made for movie soundtracks?
songs that name or feature a legendary country singer in the lyrics?
politically-driven/subject songs?
signature or big fan hit songs (that weren’t big radio hits?)
one about famous producers?
one/two-hit wonders?
rock/pop/hip-hop/etc. country crossovers (either way)?
