While that'd be great, I get the sense that all this means is that albums by Jamey Johnson and Heidi Newfield will now be in the list and we'll then see Strait, Sugarland, and Taylor Swift as the other 3. I disagree, though, that the fact that only nine albums surived the 300,000 units sold requirement means that country isn't doing business. Just a year or two ago, artists were worried about losing their record deals if they couldn't reach platinum level sales within a year of an album's release. 300,000 was considered successful back in the 80s. Hopefully with less emphasis on sales, we’ll start to see some more interesting and more deserving nominees in the album category.
