Still, when the work recognized is this solid, it’s hard to complain.

Nice to see Jason Isbell’s fantastic record get some recognition; it’s easily among my favorites of 2009 thus far. The Alejandro Escovedo album has a harder rock edge than most typical “Americana,” but it has some of his sharpest writing in ages.
