I have to agree with Nicolas one point. Joey + Rory are definitely better than Steel Magnolia. But a slick country-pop love song like “Keep On Lovin’ You” was definitely more acceptable to country radio than a neotraditional barn-burner like “Cheater, Cheater.” I personally enjoy listening to both acts, but if I had to choose which one I would hear on country radio, I would definitely choose Joey + Rory.

Yeah, I guess that you’re right. Rob Thomas’ vocals and writing chops are what keep the band going. Rob’s solo work is even better than the more recent Matchbox albums, actually. Cradlesong was one of the best mainstream albums of last year.

Anyway, about the song, it’s just decent at best. Hopefully next time they find something a little more lively.

I actually like Matchbox Twenty, but they do stick to a middling groove that is kept lively by Rob Thomas, who is an awesome singer.

Matchbox 20 is loosely associated with mediocrity these days. However, when I hark back to 1998 I still find myself having a soft spot for the band.

Matchbox Twenty is pretty vanilla, but I can’t help loving Rob Thomas. Sings great, writes great hooks.

Exactly the question I have been asking myself in regards to the new Underwood single. ;)

Back on-topic: I didn’t think much of their debut single, but I do think this is better. I think Joshua has a really, really great voice.
