I agree with Ben and JR – “Leaving” is a fantastic ballad, although I do really love “Raining On Our Love” lately.

I’ve been waiting for CU is review this one. This is probably my favourite Shania ballad ever. I think is the best “heartache, pure classic Country” song she has ever written. I love the nuances and pain in her vocals. I LOVE the black and white video, with just a touch of colour. I love the broken house and the rain pouring down. I simply love this song.

I really wish that this song had been more popular. It’s beautiful. I wonder how she would sing it now, considering all the heartache she’s been though in the past few years? Maybe she’ll sing it in Vegas? One can only hope!

I adore “Leaving Is the Only Way Out.” Definitely one of her best songs, and also one of her countriest.

Good review. I always liked this song, and I agree she should have mixed it up with a few non-love song ballads with her singles.

To me, the stand-out ballad (and track for that matter) on The Woman In Me is “Leavin’ Is The Only Way Out”. Not only does she attack that song vocally with a believable twang not unlike Terri Clark, but it’s a terrific lyric.
