Single Review: Dan + Shay, “How Not To”

“How Not To”
Dan + Shay

Written by Kevin Bard, Paul DiGiovanni, and Adam Hambrick

I guess that we can call Rascal Flatts influential artists now.

If I wasn’t watching the video with my own eyes, I would swear that “How Not To” was a Flatts track. Not quite as nasally as a Gary LeVox lead vocal, but all of the other elements are there. A decent melody, harmonies a bit higher than most male vocal groups, and a powered up chorus that recalls Journey as much as it does Alabama.

It’s all pretty bland and inoffensive, which makes it a lot more tolerable than quite a bit of what’s on the radio right now.

    Sad

  2. I like the song and the guys sing it well. If you haven’t seen the video, I would check it out. It’s pretty intense in showing the affects that abusing alcohol can have on a person’s life as well as those around them.

And if for nothing else, seeing super hot Pierson Fode’ from daytime soap opera The Bold And The Beautiful will cause you to drool a little if you’re into that sort of thing. He is definitely bold and beautiful (and not a bad actor either).
