Blake Shelton, “She Wouldn’t Be Gone”

Blake Shelton has, arguably, one of the strongest voices in country music today. This fact is evident on his latest single, “She Wouldn’t Be Gone”

While this song may be another composition about the regret and consequences of taking love for granted, Shelton’s vocal interpretation is able to capture the angst that this man is feeling as a result of his clueless relationship oversights. While we may not end up feeling sorry for him, it is clear that he wants us to.

In the verses, he uses his voice to appropriately convey regret to reflect upon the things that he should have done. Likewise, he expertly projects the bitter anguish that accompanies such a realization, which concludes with the ironic reflection, “If I had loved her this much all along/maybe she wouldn’t be gone.”

While the melodic structure may be reminiscent of Garth Brooks’ “More Than A Memory”, Shelton offers a passionate vocal performance that is accompanied by a well executed pop country production.

  1. another blake shelton song for the bin. such a voice wasted on so much unremarkable music is almost criminal. his good/bad song ratio is sub-terrestrial. if it wasn’t for “austin”, his pipes and his current girlfriend, i’d give up on that singer right now.

listen to this song being around the corner or downstairs and the only thing you’ll hear is a blur. do the same with an alan jackson, george strait or brad paisley song …….see what i mean?

  2. Tom you are most certainly INCORRECT!!!
BLAKE SHELTON IS THE BEST SINGER YOU WILL EVER FIND.
U MUST NOT KNOW WHAT GOOD MUSIC IS! SORRY BUDDY.
BUT BLAKE SHELTON, GEORGE STRAIT , BRAD PAISLEY, AND ALAN JACKSON ARE THE BEST SINGERS YOU WILL EVER FIND.
BLAKE IS A WONDERFUL, AMAZING,AND SWEET GUY AND HE CAN SING BETTER THEN ANYONE ELSE IN THIS WORLD. SO PLEASE
    DO PUT HIM DOWN!

  3. “AMIEE”

Please don’t write “CAPS” because then people don’t pay attention to what you say. Also, you say, in the last sentence, “So please put him down!” I think “Tom” did just that. Also, while Blake is a very strong singer, he does record “crap” as most mainstream, major label artists are forced to do so.

  4. I think Tom is wrong about “She Wouldn’t Be Gone.” I think the song and Blake’s delivery are great. You may not like the persona Blake’s adopted in the song, but his rendition is right on the money and captures the song’s intent perfectly. Hell, most or almost all of

  5. I don’t really know what all you people are sayin. But i was at his concert Thursday night and he kicked ass.. that was the best concert i have ever been too. he is the best country singer around. and some people such as myself might not be to happy with all you people out there who are putting him down such as this TOM character….. If you have a problem with him, keep it to yourself.. You think you can do better? lets see how many people you can get to go to “Your Concert” ….. My point exactly…. I’m in a small town and there was approximately 3000 people there… NOW who’s to say he’s a piss poor singer?!?!?!?! My opinion…. he’s got 2 thumbs up from me!!!

  6. see a~r knows how i feel because a~r the trouth.
if all you others that are putting him down think you can do better then? Blake is the best ever. he gets 2 thumbbs up!
