Review: Darryl Worley, "Living in the Here and Now"

Darryl Worley, “Living in the Here and Now”

I’m a big fan of Worley, though I tend to prefer his ballads. I absolu

tely loved his last single, “I Just Came Back From A War”, and this one sounds slight in comparison. It’s just a string of cliche’s about the simple life being the good life. He doesn’t even sound that into it himself. Typical radio filler, in the end – Travis Tritt’s “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” without the charm and personality.

  1. Very sadly I must agree with you. I think Darryl has set himself up for a fall here. I wish I could say your review is way off but its right on the money. Darryl’s got better than this on his album. After Toby left Dreamworks, Darryl’s career came to an end. The only single keeping him around was I Just Came Back From A War and with that gone I’m scared he may be too.

  2. It’s a shame that you feel this way, but I am going to have to respectable disagree with your review. I think LITHAN is one of the best songs on the CD. I also have to disagree with Anonymous- this CD rocks! It has a groove that none of DW’s other Cd’s have captured. I will admit that I was one of the first to feel apprehensive about his change in musical direction, but he proved me wrong. This is my favorite Darryl Worley CD to date.

  3. Dude, after reading a lot of your reviews, I’m starting to think that we feel oppositely about most things. I really think this is a great song. It’s a simple song, sung by a simple man.

I tabbed this song out on country tabs, and I actually try to play it every day on my guitar. It really makes me think about how lucky I am, and to not stress the small things. It’s about living one day at a time, and anyone that chooses not to believe that that applies to them too is foolish.

This is a great tune, and it’s a sin that it got almost zero radio play.
