Review: Lee Brice, “She Ain’t Right”

Lee Brice, “She Ain’t Right”

“God shook His head the day he built her”, he sings, and it’s all downhill from there. Brad Paisley has some competition in the backhanded love song category.

Come to think of it, this is just Clay Walker’s “She’s Always Right” rewritten with more forced attitude – the girl’s a badass instead of a dumbass, but same basic song.

Grade: D

  1. You can grade it a D if ya like. I love this song!!! Speaks to my heart about me and the person I am and have become. I hope Lee Brice brings on some more great tunes just like this one.

  2. Well Well Well. You give it a D if you’d like but you need to give his debut album an overall A++. This he is a Real talent that will be around for a long long time. Listen to “Overrated” and “Picture Of Me”. I’ve known this cat for a long time and I remember the first time we got drunk and busted those Taylors out in the basement of his house in Nashville. He’s a force to be reckin with and mark my words you’ll regret given him a D.

  3. I love the song, the CD, the man, everything!!! Lee Brice is great, I went to high school with him and he’s just a good ole’ country boy from SC. He’s come a long way and all of us back home are pulling for him.

  4. Dude I really don’t know why you continue to critique music when it is painfully obvious that you have no clue about real music. Are you one of those who are stuck in the 80’s and 90’s. Open your eyes, country music is changing right before you and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Lee is a personal friend of mine and I have watched him perform for hours on end. You are critiquing a guy who can put on a better show than anyone. He doesn’t need lights, smoke, or even a damn stage for that matter. Give him a mic, barstool and a guitar(maybe some jager) and prepare to be glued to your seat. He is a phenomenal vocalist, and even better guitarists and a truly exceptional songwriter. I guarantee everyone can relate to at least a couple songs on his album. There is something for everyone! And in case anyone else who knows him reads this – Lee Brice is his name and you better learn it because you will be hearing a lot more from Big Country! GET A CLUE MAN!!!!!

  5. Heard this song first as me and my daughter drove home from Myrtle Beach and we loved it!!!! Totally awesome! Looking forward to more Lee!

  6. I’m going to back the reviewer here and say that this song just ain’t good, I can’t give the song even a D. I do however think that Lee Brice has potential just not this song. I’ve heard Overrated and That one I like but this is just too blah. My Grade: F

  7. Lee Brice has been writing amazing songs since I’ve known him…and that was nineth grade in high school. This song might not be some of you alls favorite…but just wait till you hear more…because I have always known that Lee would make it BIG! And mark my words…he definately will!

  8. Well, I agree with the majority of comments. D?….F???! Are you people serious, I guess you have to come from a very special place in this world to appreciate this song, and obviously those of you who posted negative comments did not come from one of those special places. When I say special place, I’m talkin about the hole in the wall, small town, close knit places here on God’s green earth. When you’re the rough country girl, who actually knows how to drive a dually, and who goes booze cruisin and muddin’ every weekend, then this is the song that will be blastin’ from your Chevy! Cheers to you, Lee!

  9. Ya’ll are crazy! I feel in love with that song the second I heard it. It is all about me! I downloaded it the day I heard it and play it continuously! Gives hope that maybe somewhere out there someone is gonna love how wild us girls are sometimes!

  10. LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! I DONT GIVE A S$%@ IF YOU THINK ITS A COPY OF ANOTHER SONG…. ITS NOT, AND THATS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!!!!! IT IS BASICALLY THE BEST!!!!!!! LOVE IT!

  11. I think this is one of the best songs that’s been put out in country music in a long time!!!! It will be at the top of the charts. How often does a song come out that almost every woman from the south can imagine it was written about her?? Lee writes from the heart…and that comes across in all of his songs I’ve heard so far.
    I love him and I’m sure I’ll be fighting for a copy of his album when it hits the stores!

  12. I loved this song the second i heard it! and then I was seriously trying to figure out if this guy had met me before, because there is no way it could be that dead on about describing me, and not be about me. Its an awesome song, and I absolutely love it. Every red neck, country, badass girl will! Because its all about us!!

  13. Dude, I judge songs off the 1st time I hear them. I heard it and immediately came back to look up this Lee Brice fella because the song was catchy, musically enticing, well-written. Wake up dude! There’s nothing new under the sun and anyone in songwriting knows that. Especially in country music. People don’t care if it’s a spin-off from something else. Country fans live in the moment and if at that moment it makes you sing along and relates to you, you’re hooked. I don’t think anybody gives a sh!t if it sounds like something else. Go back to your cave Holmes. This is a great song!

  14. i have to say that i too fell in love with this song the first time i heard it, i also fell in love with lee brice himself. what a hottie.

  15. Kevin, I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but this has some pretty cool lyrics. I love the scene with the girl and the mother…that was just plain inventive and unexpected.

  16. I heard this song on the radio last week and loved it. I’ve been listening everyday hoping to hear it again and find out who sung it. I finally heard it again yesterday and just my luck, they didn’t name the artist. I decided to go on the internet and look for myself and ended up here!
    Keep singing Lee! The song is Awesome!

  17. I absolutely love this song. I saw the video and immediately downloaded it, I don’t know why in the heck someone would give it a D but I know I would definitely give it an A++.

  18. Who is the girl in the video?
    She looks like a girl from my hometown who is trying to break into modeling. I just wondered.

  19. I say this song was written about me! No one has ever given me a Grade D! Go get ’em Lee Brice! NYC loves you!!!!

  20. A D? Are you kidding me? This guy’s voice is incredible! I knew it the moment I first heard him sing for the summer camp I used to attend as a teenager for a few years. “She Ain’t Right” is an amazing song, and it somewhat relates to me in the opposite way. I’m the good girl grown up in the church & falling in love with what my parents would call a “bad” guy.

    Lee is going to go far!

  21. Yeah, I’ve gotta say. This is a great tune. It’s different and simplistic. But the fact that a 3 minute song can develop a character like it does is really something. That’s just good songwriting.

    I look forward to what Lee Brice does next. He’s good people.

  22. I just wanted to say I love this song. My boyfriend heard this song looked at me and said if this song doesn’t describe you. {Just like the other Redneck girls out there}

    As far as a D are you kidding me?????

    I’m thinking more like A+++

  23. haa… well Im pretty sure that most country fans actually like the song… I have to say this song is definitely one of my favourites it plays atleast 20 times aday in my truck.
    A+++
    Props to all the redneck girls that are alittle reckless<3

  24. I am 52 yrs. old and I love this song!! So, you see, Lee, you can get to the old ladies too! Just can not find the CD anywhere. The radio never plays it.

  25. lee’s a good ol’ southern boy w/a sexy voice. it seems that he can conquer the south w/a single song. and i think he’s done it. but when’s the cd come out?

  26. AWSOME!!!!!!!!IT REMINDS ME OF MY DAUGHTER AND I MISS HER SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH. SHE DEFINATELY WOULD HAVE LOVED IT TOO…HER DAUGHTER DOES….YOU HAVE IT RIGHT ON ……KEEP GOING

    Another carbon copy of someone else. Don’t they have anything orginial anymore in Nashville. I give him a year.

    THAT’S FUNNY! OVER THREE YEARS LATER AND HIS NAME IS BIGGER THAN EVER!!!!! AND TO THE REVIEWER, DEAD WRONG! THIS, LIKE MOST OF HIS SONGS, ARE AMAZING! MEDIOCRE SONGWRITERS DON’T WRITE SONGS LIKE “MORE THAN A MEMORY” AND “STILL” JUST TO NAME A FEW. JUST SAYIN’
