Single Review: Lee Brice, “Hard to Love”

Hard to love, but easy enough to like.

Brice had a potential home run here.  The lyric is endearing, and his vocal conveys the sentiment well.  I think it’s just a little too slow, so the needed sense of urgency isn’t there.

If you tune out his vocal and just listen to the backing track, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled on to a Lite FM station that played easy listening hits from the early eighties.

Lee Brice has the chops.  He needs a producer who thinks he can be a country music legend and a studio band willing to help get him there.

  1. This has been on my daily playlist since the album came out, and I haven’t gotten sick of it yet. This guy’s the real deal, and I hope he gets said producer and band.

  2. Yeah, this is pretty good. The production could use a little more flavor, but I find the subdued drumbeat kind of infectious. I’m liking his invested performance as well. Brice’s singles have been pretty hit-or-miss for me lately, but this one I’m liking so far.

  3. Love the first two singles, but I’m right with you in thinking that a better pairing of producer and/or band would really kick his material up a notch or two.

The album only had one real bad song (“Parking Lot Party”) and I’m hoping some of the better songs will see single release cause he definatley deserves any success he finds with this album.

  4. I LOVE THIS SONG! I think Lee Brice is an amazingly talented artist! I can’t wait to hear more from him!
