Review: Kenny Rogers with Don Henley, “Calling Me”

Kenny Rogers with Don Henley, “Calling Me”

This Grammy-nominated collaboration sounds like the very best Adult Top 40 of the mid-eighties, the type of song that Bruce Hornsby, Steve Winwood or Henley himself would’ve dominated the soft rock stations with. Beautifully nostalgic, these two legends find religion in their archived memories. If country radio wants to keep adopting rock legends, they might as well take a country one along for the ride. Good stuff.

  1. Can’t believe no one has commented. This is a fantastic song. Kenny Rogers was responsible for giving Don Henley his break in the music business after producing Henley and the band he was working with at the time, Shiloh.

I can’t believe they have never recored anything together before now. Of course it was never a hit at country radio, because its actually a good song and they need to get the sixth Rascal Flatts play in of the day…

  2. Great tune. Enjoy the vocal performances of both guys on this track. Just an easy song to listen to as two seasoned veterans take you on a ride.
